Volvo revised its product lineup for the 2023 model year by adopting new trim levels in place of the Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design variants that have been offered on its vehicles for a few years.
At the top of the line: Ultimate
The new Ultimate version is the most luxurious variant of most new Volvo vehicles since it is equipped with most of the comfort, convenience, technology or safety features offered by Volvo as standard, and it is available with all of the other features in the catalogue. These features include high-end items such as the massaging front seats, the active air suspension, the Bowers & Wilkins sound system and the air purifier integrated into the climate control system of most models. In terms of appearance, one of the strengths of the new trim level system is apparent from the first look. Indeed, the Ultimate model is available in two styling themes: Bright and Dark. The Bright theme keeps the expected appearance for a luxury vehicle by adopting chrome accents and a clean design while the Dark theme presents a sporty vibe due to its black accents and aggressive styling cues that are usually reserved for performance models.
A balanced proposition: Plus
The Plus model is the middle ground between the fully equipped Ultimate and the entry-level Core. As such, it shares elements with both. This means that the Plus model adds a number of features to the standard equipment of the Core model in order to be more luxurious while still remaining affordable enough for drivers who don’t want to go for the Ultimate version. The Plus shares the same styling themes as the most expensive model, which means that it can appear as either a traditional premium vehicle or a sporty yet refined model.
An impressive base model: Core
The Core trim level is the new entry-level trim of most Volvo vehicles, but this doesn’t mean it is not well equipped. Indeed, the Core variant comes standard with all of the features that are expected in the premium segment in addition to a few unique Volvo touches. For example, the Core versions are equipped with most of the advanced safety features found in more expensive Volvo models. In terms of looks, the Core is available only with the Bright theme.
