Volvo has always been known as an innovative company when it comes to safety, and it is not surprising that Volvo offers more advanced driver assistance technologies than any other brand. It is also not surprising to see the Volvo has more IIHS Top Safety Pick+ models than any other luxury automaker.
That is because Volvo vehicles offer a comprehensive safety package designed to protect occupants and make every drive more enjoyable. That said, IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designations are not easy to get.
IIHS testing is known to be very challenging with a wide range of tests designed to evaluate the safety of a vehicle in a variety of situations that could happen on the road. IIHS tests include driver-side small overlap, passenger-side small overlap, moderate overlap, original side testing, roof strength test, and head restraints test.
The small and moderate overlap tests are the most challenging as they simulate a collision with the front corners of the vehicle where there is the least structural integrity. In order to achieve a Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must pass all of these tests with the highest possible grade while also receiving an Advanced or Superior rating for available driver technology and acceptable or good ratings for the headlights.
Every single Volvo vehicle has received the Top Safety Pick+ designation in 2021 and 2022. You will not find an automaker that offers better safety across the board. Give us a call today to learn more.
