Volvo continues to make strides with its Recharge program of plug-in EVs and battery-electric vehicles; after all, they were one of the first manufacturers that announced their plans to have a fully-electrified outlet over the next decade. The C40 Recharge, meanwhile, is the latest EV in the Volvo line-up and with it comes with Volvo’s most advanced EV powertrain yet, delivering over 400 horsepower to all four wheels and perhaps even more importantly, 364 km of range.
Those figures, of course, mean you may not have to charge the C40 as often as some other EVs, but when it comes time to charge, there’s a variety of ways to do so.
The C40 Recharge can be charged either via Level I, II or III outlets. That means as soon as you park back home at the end of the day, you can plug right in for the night. Installing a level II charger at home will allow you to charge the C40 fully overnight, however, so we recommend installing one of these at home. These are also available at various charge stations, retail stores and community centres across Canada.
Speaking of charge stations: the C40 can also be charged via DC fast charger, meaning you can return 80 per cent of a charge from 10 per cent in about 40 minutes. There are already a number of charge networks across Canada, and each network is growing. They all have mobile apps to help plan your trip, and that information is also built in to your C40’s infotainment system.
Of course, if you want to try and avoid plugging in altogether, there are ways you can at least reduce charge times. You can drive more conservatively or make use of the C40’s one-pedal drive system that will run the EV motor backwards as soon as you release the throttle to help recharge your battery and increase the life of your brakes as you won’t be using their friction as much to help slow you down.
Range anxiety is a thing of the past with the C40 Recharge, so please come pay us a visit so we can demonstrate these great features!
